Early Beginnings in Architecture
My name is Surafel Dagne, and my journey in the field of architecture began at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, where I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Architecture in 2020. Starting as an architectural designer, I was driven by a passion for creating spaces that are not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing.
Professional Experience at Sabawiyan Consulting Architect and Engineer
Following my graduation, I joined Sabawiyan Consulting Architect and Engineer as an intern. This opportunity allowed me to apply theoretical concepts to real-world projects, enhancing my skills in architectural designing. My hands-on experience ranged from concept development and architectural visualization to detailed design and construction documentation.
Transition to a Remote Contract Architect Role
In 2020, I relocated to the United States but continued my professional journey with Sabawiyan Consulting Architect and Engineer as a remote contract architect. Over the past four years, I have effectively utilized remote collaboration tools to bridge geographic and time zone differences, successfully contributing to a wide variety of projects. My role involved providing design solutions, technical expertise, and ensuring quality delivery of architectural projects.
Collaborative Design Solutions and Accomplishments
Working remotely has honed my ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively across diverse teams. I have been involved in numerous projects from their conceptual phases to the construction documentation stage. My portfolio includes residential, commercial, and public buildings, all designed with a focus on sustainability and innovation. Through continuous learning and adapting to new architectural trends, I have remained committed to delivering high-quality design solutions.
Looking Ahead
My experiences over the past few years have been both challenging and rewarding. They have not only strengthened my technical skills but also taught me the importance of adaptability and effective communication in remote work environments. As I continue to grow in my career, I am eager to take on new challenges and explore innovative approaches to architectural design, contributing positively to the built environment.
